Summer Academies 2024–25

September 22, 2025

CSB's Summer Academies are week-long intensive courses offered each June, both in person and online, to provide Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) instruction and enrichment for blind and low vision students. 2025 marked a record-setting summer with 19 academies offered, 18 in person and 1 online, serving 116 total participants.

Summer Academies provide a uniquely immersive experience that extends far beyond classroom learning. Students develop critical independence skills as they navigate new environments, practice daily living skills, and explore community settings with the support of CSB staff. Equally important, students experience meaningful socialization, building friendships with peers who share similar life experiences and learning how to collaborate, self-advocate, and participate confidently in group settings. These experiences strengthen self-determination and prepare students for success in school, at home, and in their communities.
