Speech & Language

Speech pathologists at CSB deal with the speech, language, and hearing issues of students with visual impairments and multiple disabilities

Services provided

  • Assessment of speech, language and communication skills

  • Therapeutic intervention programs for

    • Oral motor and eating issues

    • Language development

      • Social pragmatic skills

      • Interaction of language and literacy

      • Auditory processing of language

    • Speech production skill development

    • Speech fluency

    • Design and maintenance of augmentative and alternative communication systems (AAC)

    • Creation of IntelliKeys activities for language development and literacy skills for students with visual impairments and multiple disabilities (non-braille readers)

  • Audiological services

    • Pure tone hearing screenings

    • Assistance with hearing aid maintenance

    • Use of FM/auditory training systems in classrooms.
